NASA scientist Jocelyn Dunn knows how to endure the uncomfortable standstill in isolation. It was part of a large Mars simulation. For eight months she lived with five other crew members in a camp isolated from the outside world.
How does a company react to a shortage of skilled workers? After all, the right specialists are the key to success. This is all about recruiting talent, sourcing, i.e. the targeted search, assessment, binding interesting applicants to companies and activating them when vacancies arise. The Boston Consulting Group, among others, estimates that there will be a shortage of 8 million skilled workers by 2030. Although companies could react faster and faster, it is taking longer and longer to fill vacancies despite digital technology.
Unfortunately, for many companies the reality today looks different. Vacant positions are sometimes not filled for months because simply no suitable candidate can be found. Instead of complaining about the general "talent shortage" and demanding solutions from politicians, you can do something yourself. It all starts with a change of attitude: With the FQQ method, you can go from being a personnel buyer to a company salesperson!
The German economy suffers from the problem of 'talent shortage'. What initially looks like a problem can also be seen as an opportunity. Simply reinvent recruitment! Granted, learning from sport does not automatically mean learning to win. Nevertheless: Especially in competitive sports there are many proven methods and concepts that can be transferred to recruiting in companies.
It is probably now a general consensus that employees can neither be satisfied nor retained in the long term by a high salary alone. And new talents are usually less attracted by such one-sidedness than expected.
It's more than that: the decisive criteria mentioned are long-term development prospects, opportunities to participate in shaping the company, flexible response to employees and the social and human environment.
Where do you stand? Are you still the classic candidate buyer or have you already started to advertise the advantages of the position and company? Many companies have the feeling that the constant search for the right talent is becoming increasingly difficult. That costs nerves, and above all money.
Successful hiring works like successful selling, or in other words: hiring process and selling process follow the same principles.
